Alex in Wonderland: Part 9
Amanda and Jessica stepped into the arcade just behind the Rent-a-Cop. “I think I remember him,” Amanda whispered to Jessica. Becky had finally made it onto the carpeting, “Oh my God! It still smells exactly as I remember.”
Jessica shook her head and looked back at the irate clerk. “Who is she pointing at.. You’ve got to be kidding! It’s him.” She motioned with her eyes, took a deep breath and blew it out quickly. “Okay, here goes nothing,” she muttered.
Amanda grinned. “Ready for an adventure,” she said grabbing Becky by the hand. “No,” Becky started, “I’ve had enough adventure for one day.”
Jessica made sure she almost knocked the security officer off his feet as she rushed past him on her path to Alex. “Hey you!” She called loudly. She was heading straight toward him, making eye contact and smiling. Hoping he wouldn’t run, thinking she was deranged or part of the lynch mob. “You know you can’t just disappear like that.” Hoping that her emphasis on certain words would jog a reaction from him.
