“Come on!” yelled Lauren as she jammed the elevator button.
We were leaving for up state New York. We did nothing in N.Y.C. We were grounded, remember?
“It’s not coming!” she cried. “The elevator is just not coming!” I heard a ding from behind me and spun around. It was Kevin.
“Are you guys gonna come?” I nodded and got into the elevator.
“Where’s Nick?” I asked Kevin as we started to go down. Lauren was too busy caught up with the other elevator. Too bad she didn’t see the sign that read “OUT OF ORDER ”.
“I don’t know. Haven’t seen him,”. Kevin smiled secretly as if he knew something I didn’t.
“Kevin….,”.
“Yeah?”
“You know! Tell me!”
“No I don’t!”
“Kevin!”
“Okay!”
“Yeah?”
“Nick left early and went to the cabin early. He wanted to surprise you!” My face lit up. This was turning into a great Christmas. At least I thought that. The feeling only lasted for about a day or so…...
