Remembering Problems (Ficlet #500)

I walked into the kitchen after sleeping in again.Another thing I love about the holidays: it doesn’t matter if you have nightmares; you have all the time in the world to sleep them off.
”... Paige, I really think you should talk to someone about your—Drew dear! Awake at last! He sleeps in forever, you know,” she said turning towards Paige with a half-exasperated expression.
Paige smiled up at me, “Hey Drew.”
I noticed she had bags under her eyes. I nodded in her direction and went to get some cereal.
Mom leaned forward, whispering so she thought I couldn’t hear, “I really think you should consult someone on this.”
Paige frowned at her, shaking her head and standing up, “I’ve got a shift at 11, I’ll drop by later tonight if I survive the last-minute Christmas shoppers,” she grinned at me and left.
Mom stood up, stirring her coffee and frowning worriedly. “Bad finances?” I guessed.
She nodded absent-mindedly, which only made me more suspicious. But how could there be a problem that Paige couldn’t fix?
