Little Miss Obsessive
“So then he gave me my books and was all like ‘I’ll see you around,” I spoke at a million words per minute due to major excitement as I told Mallory all about what had happened just a few hours earlier, “then I was like ‘yeah’ and then he walked away!”
I squealed loudly as Mallory smiled in amusement at my obsession. As usual, like every Friday night, I was over at Mallory’s for our weekly sleep-over. It was better than being at my house on a Friday night for several different reasons.
“I just can’t believe I actually talked to him today, you know,” I continued, “and he even knew who I was!”
“Yeah, it’s exciting,” Mallory agreed, “I’m really happy for you.”
But Mallory didn’t exactly look excited. Instead of looking as if she were really happy for me, she just looked down at the floor as if she were mulling something over.
“Callie, listen,” Mallory took a deep breath and finally looked up from the floor, “I have to ask you something.”
Yeah, that tone she was using? That was never good.
