But Nick was glaring at Charlie. As he stroked Amanda’s hair, he growled, “What do you want?”
“What?” Amanda asked, confused.
Then she saw Charlie.
“Nothing,” Charlie innocently replied, “Can I not stand with my girlfriend?”
Nick glared at him. “Go ahead. She’s over there,” he said, pointing to where Kat, Kevin, Nick Noodle, and Sam were sitting. Charlie looked over, and then looked back at Nick.
“No, kid, I think you’re hugging her,” Charlie sneered.
“Sorry, dude, this is my girl,” Nick cooly replied, heading over to stand with Blair and Joe.
Charlie glared at their backs. Then he turned to me, “Alyse, you were there. What is up with this?” Charlie asked, angrily but obviously hurt. “She said she loved me, and love is not something to be taken lightly.”
“No, Charlie, it isn’t.. but you can’t be a forever, man, and that’s what she needs. Love and a future.”
