Penny for Your Thoughts
Old Bess and Sassy/Sarsaparilla went behind the bar and began filling some glasses with champagne.
Karl had resumed his usual comatose position, slumped over his newspaper.
And Jameson gazed at Prandi, trying to come to terms with the last week of his life. A week ago he’d been at a frat party hoping to catch the attention of a girl he’d liked for months. To his surprise, she had come up to him, with her bizarre questions and her strange attitude which Jameson took for charm.
He realized now that charm was really a disguise for her screaming insecurity.

“Penny for your thoughts, Jameson.”
“Oh, I was just thinking of how much I’d like to do this…” Then he leaned in towards Prandi and kissed her softly on the mouth.
