See You Again

Just when I got home, my cell phone rang. It was Mallory.
“Hey, what’s going on?” I answered the phone.
“Where were you!” she exclaimed.
“What are you talking about?” I said, slightly nervous.
“You were supposed to be at my brother’s practice with me after school!” she reminded me.
“Oh my God! I totally forgot!” I said slapping my free hand to my forehead, “Okay, are you still there?”
“Yes! His practices are like really long!” she cried.
“Okay, I’ll be right there,” I hung up and rushed out the door.

I spotted Mallory sitting on the top of the bleachers with a magazine. I walked quickly up the steps and sat with her, “Sorry!” I told her sincerely.
“It’s okay,” she said, “but did you bring your homework with you?”
“Yeah, why?” I replied.
“Because I need help with the stupid math assignment,” she told me, rummaging through her backpack.
And that’s when I saw him..
He was practicing with his own team across the field, but I could still see that it was him.
The last person I wanted to see.
