See You Again (part 3)

He chuckled and it somewhat startled me.
I looked up at him for a split second, but avoided eye contact. He looked so good. I couldn’t even believe it was him. I hadn’t seen him in so long and we had not ended on good terms. He was wearing a long sleeve shirt in the middle of May, though, and that confused me since it was getting hot out already.
“I haven’t seen or heard from you in almost a year now and this is how you say hello?” he joked referring to the spilled soda.
I took in a sharp breath and looked away.
“So how’ve you been?” he asked.
I didn’t know what to say. He looked so good and he seemed so nice compared to that night. But I didn’t want to say anything to him. I knew if I would, I would be swept off my feet again. I would eventually like him again and I’d forget what happened. But I wasn’t going to let that happen.
I went to walk away and I almost thought he was going to grab me and pull me back again like he did that night, but he didn’t.
So I kept walking.
