Remembering the Song
I let my fingers move across the keys, my eyes closed. I knew the song well enough.
...I’ll fall with you.
Sometimes in this world,
it gets so hard,
and I think that we might as well surrender.
The world’s all crashing down,
on our shoulders,
And life just isn’t worth living.
But then I’ll see something,
that keeps me going.
Don’t you know that that something is you…
So don’t let go-oh,
Keep holding on.
I won’t push you off the edge.
I’ll just hold tight to you,
so if you fall, I’ll fall too…
I’ll fall with you.
I trailed off, the last unfinished chord hanging in the air.I sat there in silence for a minute when a voice spoke, “Is that the end?”
I jumped in surprise, spinning around to see Drew, “Drew! Hi! Sorry, I had no idea you were there.”
“Is that the end?” he repeated.
I blushed, “I never finished it, actually.”
“You should. It’s good,” he replied, an unfathomable look in his eyes.
“I wrote it for my boyfriend in Florida. I stopped when he dumped me,” I lied quickly.
