Remembering Getting Dumped

“Oh,” I commented intelligently, thinking about that. I’d figured she’d written it for someone she’d been helping/annoying. Although, knowing Paige, she probably would be dating someone with problems, “Well that sucks.”
“What does?” Paige looked confused.
“Getting dumped, and therefore not finishing a great song,” I explained.
She laughed, “Yes, getting dumped definitely sucked.”
“Why’d he dump you?” I asked, curious.
“Something about being over possessive and annoying,” she grinned at me.
Ha.That makes sense. My answering smile was a little late, but it did appear, “Here, Mom wanted me to give you this.”
Paige’s eyes lit up, “Is that Ginkgo? Oh good I was running low. Hey, you want to stay for dinner? I was just going to start it.”
I nodded, following her into the brightly lit kitchen. Paige chattered for a bit as she pulled some potatoes, cheese, meat, and peas out of various places. Her rubix cube was sitting in the center of the table. I sat down, picking it up and turning it over in my hands.
