The Valley in the Sea
The cloudy depths of
bedrock
bedlam
fill up every crack and cranny.
no land here
just sand here
and the fish that glide like
astronauts.
the coral reaching spindly fingers up
to catch them in its thorny grasp.
darkness hangs like some
deathly blanket,
quieting the hollow canyon.
it swoops and curves like some
haunted half-pipe,
hellish in its hollow hide.
no land here
just sand here
and the fish that glide like
astronauts.
