Peripheral Evil: Part 2, Sully 2

Sully frowned, “Dad,” he groaned, but his dad was pointing toward the big church yard on the left, stepping on the brake.

“Jeez, Sull. Could’ve sworn I saw something about to run across,” Dad said as he accelerated.

Sully looked back to the church as they passed. He turned in the seat. His heart beat pounded in his ears, though the blood drained from his face.

There were two of them. Built like overgrown cats, covered in massive armored scales, yellow eyes, and they were watching him. They knew they’d been seen. He felt it run through his entire being. He had no true name for what he saw, but he knew it was peripheral evil.

“You alright?” Dad asked.

“Uh, I think so,” Sully answered turning back in his seat. Slumping down to look in the side mirror.

Dad laughed, “Didn’t know a little brake tap made you so nervous. Been riding with Mom too much.” Then he poked him in the ribs.

Sully grunted, “Yeah that’s all it is.”

He made up his mind to do some Googling as soon as they were home.

Safe.
