Peripheral Evil: Part 10 The Man In Black

Sully waved to Rosalyn as she pulled out of the drive. He turned to his dad and looked at him, trying to decide on the right words.

“Why didn’t you or Mom just say something the first time she was here?” He just let it spill out. He hoped it wasn’t too harsh though the crack in his voice half way through showed his frustration.

“Come on, Sull. Let’s go inside,” his Dad wrapped his strong arm around his shoulders and pulled him close, “it’s been a long day.”

Sully huffed but followed along, as if he had any other choice, “You’re avoiding.”

“I know,” his Dad answered quietly as they walked up the steps of the porch.

Mom, Kara and Talia, the youngest, greeted them at the door.

Talia wrapped herself around Sully’s leg yelling, “DidyouseethatSully?”

He slid her across the wood floor and into the house, “Get off! You little twerp!” Kara followed, laughing at them both.

Mom and Dad stood looking up the drive, “Scott,” she whispered, “He’s been standing there since the magpie flew.”
