I was sort of this guy to my wife when we first dated. I fell for her, hard. And it scared the living daylights out of me, so I broke it off, and hurt her pretty bad. Took a while to repair the damage, but now we’re living the fairy tale. I think my experience is the exception to the rule, but the possibility exists that he does see, and that’s what scares him.
