This probably isn’t extremely dark for most people, but for some reason, I’ve always been paranoid about new neighbors…

Did anybody else sing “Mrs. Jones,” imitating Adam Duritz from Counting Crowes, at the first line? Just me? Ok, carry on.
I always thought when I moved into a house it would be like tv. Where all the neighbors are friends and such, but you know, I never really go outside. And I do find it creepy when people come to my door just for the heck of it.
Fun read, and I give you mad props for stepping up to the plate on this challenge.

Oh! Very nice! And creepy! I’ve never really enjoyed neighbors, since the two apartments next door have a tendancy for getting the freaks… Not the current ones though, they’re very nice. Great entry!

there’s something in that look the mother gave and the fact that she drug her two teenage boys over with her….

One of my neighbors rarely goes outside of his house, doesn’t have much furniture inside his house, which is fairly largeish, hires a company to do his lawn, and drives a black car with tinted windows. He is also seen carrying mysteriously large trash bags outside to the curb at midnight.

Okay, so that last part was made up. But anyway, I got the underlying, somewhat creepy tone in here. It’s very subtle, and it changes the way you read it.
