Its hard to be so scared. So unknowing. Fearful for what is next. Trying to decipher the clues, yet coming up blank. Palms sweat, heart races, breathing quickens.
And thus, here I was. His dark eyes looked me over again, and again. I felt something heat up inside me; boiling over my top. His hand moved to my face and brushed against my cheek. The goose bumps flocked over my skin, seeming to permanently settle there. He still hadn’t said a word. Just stared at me. His long hard gaze was intimidating to say the least, and I don’t think I’ve ever been as nervous in my life. “Get it over with.” I might as well have thought it because it came out no louder than a butterfly’s wings. I shifted my eyes away from his after I had given up trying to read what was behind them.
“Here you go, sir.” I glanced up to see a man in tails offer up an envelope. Fancy. The envelope was handed to me. I took it with shaky hands, then read it with tears streaming my cheeks.
“Yes!” And with that, he placed the ring on my finger.
