“Ow! Motherfuh-!”
Chloe gasped, staring up at her big sister with those large, innocent eyes that always got her out of trouble.
“Em! Did you just almost say a bad word? I’m telling Mommy!”
“No! Please don’t tell! I’m sorry!” Emily gasped, lifting her thumb to her lips and sucking on the blood. Damn, it hurt so bad! How could an itty-bitty little fishing hook cause such a big slice in her finger?
“No, Em, you almost said something naughty! You’re gonna be in trouble! Mommy? MOMMY !”
“Chloe, be quiet! It was an accident!”
“MOMMY!”

“MO-” Emily wrapped the hand that wasn’t bleeding around Chloe’s mouth. Looking around the sporting goods store, she saw that her mother was nowhere to be seen, although a few strangers were staring. She squinted at them, and they each quickly turned around and pretended to be interested in something that they weren’t even want.
“Jesu-, I mean, goodness gracious, Chloe, it was an accident! Are you going to be good and quiet?”
