The Dove of Steel (36)

The last thing Isaac remembered was the last roar of the engines, how they sounded like they were a cacophony of hatred booming above all the fear, then a requiem of death and silence.

Everything went spiraling down, crashing, turning, whirling. Smoke covered his face, so he was left swirling in a whirlwind of haze and confusion, and no one was there to help him. He was alone. So alone, in the infinite darkness, so alone…

But there was a light, yet he could never know if it was there, the fires of rage had long since obscured all light. But then, just then, when all was dark and lonely, he thought for a moment, just a moment, that he saw a light.

It was a faint light, it barely could be seen in his heart, yet it was so comforting. Isaac didn’t know what it was, only one word echoed through his mind:

Linda?
