a comma should never replace a much needed period :P Seriously, I understand where your coming from; commenters can be overly glowing, but usually they are reallife friends. But most comments are tempered to the writer. I rate and comment based on several factors. A few being Age (easier on inexperienced writers), Portfolio (what other stories did they write and are they improving),the writer’s thought process (was the ficlet unique or funny), personallity (is the writer aware of their shortcomings).
Hmm, I didn’t feel that it was your place to say whether someone is good or bad. Sure, honesty is the best policy, but you can’t just say whatever pops into your head. If you have to tell them that you didn’t like it, give them constructive criticism and start off by pointing out good qualities.
