Time seemed to slow down as everyone in the packed stadium realized what was going on. As soon as the band had realized what had happened, they had rushed Richie backstage, before calling 911 about a million times. No one spoke, and though the ambulance got there in a matter of minutes, each second that had passed had seemed like hours for the band.
The ride to the hospital was short and quick. Once there, Richie had been rushed into the E.R. while the other members of the band were forced to sit in the waiting room, panic showing abundantly on their faces. As soon as the media found out about what had happened the hospital had become surrounded by reporters and camera men, all trying to get the story first.
An agonizing while later, police had pushed their way through to the band members to tell them, “We found the guy that shot Richie.”
