The writer of Venus (The infamous beginning challenge)

It was a dark and stormy night…

She was stricken by an acute form of the writer’s block, unable to fill the white of the pages. Around her, lots of torn pieces of paper. Almost two hundred of false starts, aborted stories, short stories with twist too predictable to bring out more than a smile, stereotypical stories without any true meaning, stories of spurned lovers, stormy passions.

She fancied herself to be The writer of Venus since high school, describing romance as no one could ever do. She always got only straight As in composition and creative writing.

But she hadn’t a deadline before, and this was her first work for a magazine.

She had sacrificed everything: studied hard, sent lots of papers and resumeès, almost flatlined her own life to get her job.

Then, inspiration hit her as a lightning.

She reached for the phone

“Is still open that invitation?”
“Weren’t you too busy for only a dinner, hon?”

She smiled, denying.

Afterall, you cannot write of life, when the price is your happiness.
