The Journey Begins Part 2
November 7, 2008
We drove for hours, going northbound. I still needing more sleep from the night before, finally attained a peace of mind, and drifted off into sleep.
When I woke up, we were approaching the Quebec/New York border.
“Oh, your finally awake,” said my mom.
“I guess so,” I said.
“We were listening to the radio, and there is reason to believe the infection hit Eastern Pennsylvania hours ago…” my mother’s voice trailed off and then she finally said, “Thousands are dead already, scientists say its the strongest disease ever known.”
We drove in silence for the next few minutes, and then we made it to the Quebec border. Everyone in the family made it through the customs, after being checked for early signs of the disease, and luckily, we were on the move again.
We stopped that night at a truck rest area, and slept in the car.
