The detective went over to a nearby desk and looked at the papers on it. After looking through just a few papers, he realized what he was looking at. This guy was on the FBI ’s most wanted list! Then he saw a paper dated that very day. Looking at it, he soon found out who was involved in the attempted murder. Suddenly he heard footsteps sloshing back to where he was standing! He grabbed a handful of papers, and ran out, paying no attention to the noise his footsteps were making.
He heard shouting from behind him, and he ran even faster. He soon found himself on the ladder again, and he was climbing as quickly as he could, trying not to get caught. Once he was back on the surface he barely noticed that the man he’d tied up was gone. Even so, the cops had probably picked him up. He jumped into his car that he’d parked secretively in the corner of a nearby alley, and drove as fast as he could back to the police station. No one was one the road, so he floored the gas pedal.
