The Owl and the Mice (Metaphor Challenge)
The owl watched the mice scurry across the field. No one had ever put the owl in charge, but he felt it was his duty to “protect” this land. It didn’t matter that he had taken over the land, despite the fact that the mice had been here first.
“There is but one thing to do,” one of the mice said in a voice barely above a whisper. “We must defeat the owl. We must band together against this vile beast!”
“Hear, hear!” the others cried, wielding their swords. With a loud shout, the mice rushed upon the owl’s lair.
But, the owl had prepared for such an anomaly. He swooped on the mice, breaking their backs and their courage. The owls beak crunched merrily on their bones. “Stupid mice,” he guffawed. “Stupid of them to think I would could be vanquished so quickly.”
