It Begins

“Hey, girls,” Tray tried to pacify the arguing pair, but his voice went by unnoticed.

“If, for once, you’d consider others than yourself, and put their priorities first, you might have a pleasant surprise,” Blaire said, her shawl sweeping dramatically across her neckline with the breeze.

“You might actually find that people would like you for you. Not for your blood money.”

“Are you saying that Trevor does drugs?!” Diane shrieked, clutching her golden purse.

Blaire’s eyes blazed with anger. “I don’t say so, I know so.”

“Why did I even invite you? You always ruin the evening!” Diane spat, her brown hair in disarray and her face contorted with ugliness.

“Because I speak the truth?” Blaire smoothly retorted. “You dragged me here against my will.”

Diane’s response was cut off by a large rumble of thunder and a flash of lightning.

Rain came smashing down onto the deck, and all the guests cried out.

“We’ll continue this inside,” Diane hissed, leaving Tray and Blaire alone on deck.
