Journal #2 : The Chase
“Hey, wait, come back!” Mary Sue shouted, and rose to chase him.
Her locks swept dramatically back and forth as she ran forward.
Max just ran harder, but skidded to a stop when he heard a thump.
He turned around to see Mary Sue face down in the street, groaning with pain.
Just in time, too, because a car was speeding towards her at an impossible speed.
Being the good boy he was, Max pushed Mary Sue out of the path of the roaring engine and the car it belonged to.
“Oh my gosh, thank you soooo much!” she said, sighing with another dramatic tone. “You saved me! I knew you loved me.”
That made Max drop her. “Uh…I have to go now…”
“Please, don’t! I’m scared of broomsticks, doorknobs, spiders, vans, cats, dogs, open spaces, fenced in spaces, dark spaces and footstools because I was thrown into an apothecary when I was young.”
Max’s spirits dropped low. Very, very low.
“I gotta go home – I have…homework! Yeah, homework!”
He was shocked to see that Mary Sue’s eyes had changed color.
Uh oh.
