Note on my Window

I shivered feeling a breeze pass over my face. I blinked open my eyes seeing my mother’s gaze pinned on mine. I shook my head and rubbed my eyes.
“Hey Honey. You fell asleep on the couch.” I slid my gaze to the window, the stars shimmered against the black sky.
“It’s 1:00 in the morning mom!” I gasp. She looks down, a guiltiness in her eyes. My mother opened her mouth to reply. I sighed and closed my eyes.
“Forget it mom. I’m going to bed, love you.” And with that I got up and lumbered up the stairs to my room. My eyes imediatley caught sight of a slip of paper taped to my window. I looked around the room, then nearly ran to it, my eyes wide.
Goodnight Dear Kirsten was all it simply said. I smiled a sweet smile and took the note in my hand. The thin paper felt so sacred, so precious in my hand, lit up by the moonlight. As I curled up under my covers I imagined I could feel his lips against mine, and his arms around me in a warm embrace.
