A Memory, a Mommy, and a Moment Missed (by both VideogameBoy and Elsha together)

“Maybe next year we can go to Holiday World again!” the five year old exclaimed.

“Maybe,” the distracted mom answered.

“And we can ride the waterslide again!” the five year old launched into memory. “We can ride that colorful slide, it’s purple and green and yellow, you can see it in the lunch place! You can go into that big lazy river. I like to ride all of the things there!”

“mmhmm.” Mom was thinking about other things.

“Mom! My favorite thing is the thing that you have to go up up up! AND I want to ride that thing where you get a picture!”

“The log ride?”

“Yeah! And the thing where you shoot the turkeys!”
“Well, maybe we’ll go next year.”

“Ok.” The five year old looks sullen. “I want to go to holiday World next year,” he pouts and whines.

“Mommy’s working now, honey. Why don’t you go play in your room?”

“Aw! I don’t want to play in my room!”

“Well you have to do something quiet, Mommy’s working now.”

“Can I watch a movie?”

“Sure.”
