The Scientist
When I woke the next morning, the phone was on the floor, beeping. I cursed and leaned over the edge to pick it up.
5 hours & 30 min it read. My mouth nearly dropped.
“Wow, I wonder how much of that was spent talking…”
I put the phone on my bed side stand and yawned. I looked to the left and saw Rose’s hoodie pressed against the bed where I’d been laying on it. I laughed and picked it up to take in its scent yet again.
I thought about calling her to say good morning, but was afraid I’d wake her. Instead, I got up to take my usual morning shower. I sang The Scientist by Coldplay as the hot water poured over me. I knew every word, for I’d been singing it ever since Rose and I had started talking.
After getting out, I hopped down the stairs to get something to eat. Mom and Dad were already up.
“Morning Tyler.” my mom said, hugging me.
“Morning.” I replied, still tired.
My dad stood behind her, speaking up.
“Tyler, Candi called yesterday wanting to talk to you… she sounded urgent…”
