“Shhh. Lena, listen to me!”
“No! NO! YOU DEVIL ! GET AWAY FROM ME !”
“Lena! Stop! STOP IT ! GOD DANG IT LENA !”
I shivered, pulling away from him, wanting to be closer, but then the scene from my memory replayed itself in my head, and I instantly wished I was a mile away.
“Lena! What I did was for the good of us both! LENA !”
My teeth chattered violently against my jaw on their own accord, and I felt warmth dripping down my chin.
“You’re going into a seizure, Lena! Stop it! I LOVE YOU !”
I finally spoke at those three words.
That lie of such great extremes that my brain couldn’t even fathom them.
I faced him, gained control of myself once more, and then whispered, “If you love me, then why did you drown my son?”
And I turned away, and ran into the mist, never to be seen by him again.
