Destiny
Three vodkas and a gin and tonic later, Prandi and her neighbor, Gladys, were best of pals.
“So I saw them hugging in the parking lot and decided then and there to leave.”
“I tell ya, that’s the saddest story I’ve ever heard. Let me tell ya about my second husband. Now that’s an even sadder story -“
Gladys’s story was suddenly interrupted by the captain’s voice over the PA: “Passengers, we apologize for the inconvenience, but due to a security issue we will need to vacate the plane for further investigation. Attendants, please assist the passengers in recollecting all of their carry on.”
Gladys unbuckled her seat belt and stretched her arms over her head. “Ah, shucks, and I was in the middle of a juicy story. Well, it’s gonna have to wait. Wonder what kind of security issue it is? I tell ya, sweetie, I don’t think this plane is destined to take off today. “
Prandi clinked the ice in her cup and stared out the window, a pensive look on her face. “Destined…I wonder if there is such a thing as destiny.”
