The first paragraph just about put me the mental ward! his, her, mrs, Mr, whom? Is the husband outside? I think he is, I think the wife is really in the ward, but the first paragraph morphs them together..

kk, I found a typo: Mrs. Harper looks at his watch. I’m guessing his should be her?

And is this going to be a series? It kinda seems like that.
