Father Ed

Kelly would not be enough. Sure, people viewed him differently, because he was older, but an adult would make this project worthwhile.

All day long, I day-dreamed about possible candidates; making a mental list, then making Xs next to each name.
“Louise? Are you listening?” Her inquisition was interrupted by Father Ed.
“Sister Barley. Students. Oh, don’t stop on my account, please continue.” He took the seat next to me. Suddenly, as Sister droned on, it came to me. Father Ed is an authoritative figure, trustworthy, he can keep a secret… Wait, Louie. Be sure to weigh the pros and cons… He may be inclined to tell the police…. och, VERY big con… Is it worth it? Yes, of course. Well, here I go… I scribbled a message on my Composition book, and shoved it toward him. I made sure my eyes were straight ahead.

“Louise, you wanted to talk to me?” Father Ed raised one, gray eyebrow.
“Yes, Father. But not here.” I took his hand, and led him to Stevie. “There. We need to hide him.” I panted.
