Residing Dreams (Chapter 96)
I sat back in my seat as the plane lifted off. I held Elle and Daisy in my arms, but they were no substitute for the warm arms of my father. I tried to distract myself by reading the novel I had brought along with me. But ultimately, my thoughts got the best of me and surfaced. I had never been so overwhelmed and nervous in my life. Involuntarily, I touched the golden heart locket that still hung around my neck. Self consciously, I opened it up. I expected it to be empty, as it always had been. For some reason, I had never gotton around to putting a picture inside. But to my surprise, I found two smiling faces staring back at me. It was a picture of my father and I, taken a year or two ago. I was not stumped as to where the picture had come from. Dad, I thought fondly. I felt better knowing that a part of him would be with me.
