Residing Dreams (Chapter 141)

“There are lots of things that aren’t supposed to happen, yet they still do,” I reflected. I would know. “Like me, for example. I reckon I wasn’t meant to be born in the first place,” Casimir said. I noticed that some of the things that came out of his mouth were awfully gloomy. I stared at him again. I noticed his skin had a rather dull color to it; obviously it was unhealthy. “How can you wish you never knew life?” I said, forgetting things for a moment. He looked at me sharply. “Because I’ve never HAD a life, Essie. And if I’m correct, I might not ever will. Never mind it, okay?” he said, agitated. “Alright,” I responded calmly. We ended up playing checkers that day, and the first time, I let him win. The second time, he won by himself. “So, what do you do at the day camp, again?” Casimir asked. “I make art projects and stuff. Want to see them?” I said. Then, I remembered that he wasn’t well. He didn’t look like he was going anywhere today. “Maybe another time,” he mumbled.
