Middle School Mayhem: Part 4

I walked towards the staircase when I finally saw a familiar face. It was Denise, my best friend ever. She was mixed in with a bunch of skinny girls who were all wearing areopostale t-shirts, some store where my mother thought I was too young to shop at. I smiled and ran over to her.
“Hey!” I said, smiling. Finally I didn’t feel so alone anymore.
“Why are you talking to me?” she asked, all the girls laughed.
“Denise, it’s me,” I said, confused. Had Denise randomly forgotten about me over the summer?
“You know her?” asked Rachel. She was in my fifth grade class. I didn’t like her, never did. She always had something to say, something snotty to say.
“I’ve never seen her in my life,”. I frowned.
“You’ve practically seen me everyday of your life, Denise,”. Everyone laughed again.
“Well, we’ll just leave you two alone, see you later Denise,” said Rachel, and the whole crowd of girls walked away.
“What was that all about?” I muttered. This was just great.
“Jeez Maddy, I’ve never been so embrassed!”
