Perfect HIM
“Why were you sitting all alone in class before the bell? And you look like someone just told you some big news! Spill!”
Amber was a sucker for gossip. And she truly cared about me. I needed to tell somebody anyway, to make it more true.
“I wrote these poems…”
“About Cam?!” She knew me too well.
“Yes. And I ran into someone and they scattered all over the floor, and he picked them up..”
“He read them!?!” Amber was quick on the uptake.
“Yeah. And he said he’d forget he ever did, because it embarrassed me.”
“That is SO sweet!”
“Yeah.”
“He is perfect!”
“Yeah.”
“I am so jealous!”
“Is this a dream? Are we really at school?”
Amber slapped me.
“Okay. Ow!”
“Well, you had to know the truth!”
The bell rang then for class, and we each turned our separate ways.
I decided to sit by him at lunch. No more beating around the bush.
Yet when the lunch bell finally rang, I felt butterflies fly all the way into my throat. I swallowed and bravely entered the cafeteria.
Cam was sitting alone.
