Getting OUT of Trouble

Wendy lit some papers in the trash can, then threw the lighter in. A small explosion knocked the trash can over and burning papers flew out, catching spots of the carpeting on fire. I realized these were spots that oil or grease had dripped on before.

The fire was not growing fast enough. Wendy crawled over and shoved the door open to the warehouse. The gust of air fed the flames. It also blew more papers onto the floor which soon ignited.

The heat started to get more intense. We crawled out into the warehouse, smoke following us.

“How do you propose we get out of here without getting caught?” I shot my question at Wendy.

She merely pointed. The opposite side of the warehouse from the dirty windows we peered in had another exit door. But just then it opened! A man came running inside. We ducked behind some crates. Wendy led me down long aisles, zig-zagging over towards the door, trying to remain unseen.

We dashed out of the door and ran across a small alley to hide behind a dumpster.

“Marcus is gonna..”
