I pounded down the wide hallway, hearing footsteps behind me, next to me, through the wall.

I never should have walked into that room!

The white walls, studded with paintings and doors, rushed past as I pushed my legs to move faster. The third floor hallway finally came to a halt at the stained glass window, and I vaulted around the white handrails to the stairs.

They were getting closer! A sense of unease grew with every step in my mad dash to get out.

The maze of railings and staircases flew by. My feet finally touched the ground floor, and I reached for French door.

I was almost past the foyer! The door was waiting, open, beckoning me into the safe night outside!

But then the door slammed shut.

I sheepishly turned to face the naked couple in front of me. Their unearthly presence made goosebumps trail across my arms, hung at my sides in embarrassment.

And then their ghostly anger was unveiled.

“HOW DARE YOU WALK IN TO OUR BEDROOM WITHOUT KNOCKING !”
