The Chase Persists
“You feeling okay Steph?” asked Alex, who was sitting across from her.
“I… don’t know,” Steph said, shutting her eyes.
The tingling she’d felt earlier had grown slowly, and now it felt like it was hammering her down. It wasn’t exactly pain, but it wasn’t the best feeling to have while on a crowded airplane.
“We’re almost there, do you think you’ll be fine until we arrive?”
She nodded, though she wasn’t so sure.

The boats had abandoned the chase hours ago.
Instead, there were helicopters. I could hear them in the distance. The boat couldn’t be too hard to find, and I knew that I’d soon have to abandon it.
I searched the entire boat for anything to eat, but came up with nothing. I was beginning to wish that I hadn’t spat my dinner in the guard’s face.
Stretching my hand down into the icy water, I shuddered. I could see land, maybe I could reach it before they found me.
The sounds were growing louder. Getting closer.
I sighed, then leaped into the frigid water.
