“Oh…â€? Chris looks down at his feet. “I just thought we… kind of… had something…?â€?

“I know… but like, it’s complicated Chris… and I didn’t ask for this… you’ve got to understand.â€? I say quietly taking a step closer, not wanting Edwin to hear me.

“Yeah, I get it Hazel. See you at school tomorrow.â€? He says disgustedly.

I stand there and watch him walk away from me. I can’t explain the feelings I’m having… I desperately didn’t want Chris to walk out of my life, but I could feel Edwin’s eyes on me again. I sigh in defeat, fake a smile and walk back to where Edwin is still sitting.

“Everything alright?â€? He asks.

I nod once and smile up at him. “Just a small misunderstanding… He’ll get over it.â€?
