Heh. I wasn’t sure ‘gloppy’ was a word when I published. Now that I check, the free dictionary insists that it is. The primary definition is: “a soft soggy mixture, as of food” (which was the sense I was going for). The second definition (of which I was unaware) is pricelessly ironic: “something, such as a piece of writing, that is judged to be worthless.”

(and the second “gloppy” definition was rather ironic… and the word reminded me of a word an Irish exchange student I knew once used: loppy, which has a similar meaning to “gloppy”’s first definition.)

Thanks for the comments. I’m not sure I’ll take it anywhere. I was thinking about the backstory of a character in a short story that I haven’t yet completed and decided to write it as a ficlet. Please don’t let it stop anyone else from making a sequel though!
