L.oss O.f L.anguage
I’m not much of a “lol” person. I prefer a good old-fashioned “haha.” or sometimes, just a succinct “ha”.
Then again, I’m not not of an instant messenger person, either. The only reason I even have a screenname is the prompting of Boy.
What annoys me is when people use this IM language in everyday speech. Example? We were in World Studies class, when the Weasel said “Omg! Idk wht happened! Lol!” Of course, I abhorred his murder of the english language.
This also brings to mind a play that I once saw, in which a peer continued to say “lol” after each word.
Perhaps, it is only me, but I’ve noticed a significant Loss Of Language.
