The Academy - The Forest of Solitude Part 1

The forest was beautiful, but had a strange eerie aura about it. The tall dark trees cast long shadows, and were barren of it’s leaves. The first snow had not yet fell upon the leaf littered earth yet, but the air held it’s own cold bite to it. Emerald shrubs hovered over the earth, and the sun’s warm rays couldn’t penetrate through the ghost white clouds high up over the forest.
Rose followed the path wearily, every snap of a twig sent a chill through her entire body. But she continued to march on. She didn’t understand why her parents had to send her to some boarding school so far from home.
They announced over the P.A. system that dinner would be at sunset, and it was still only 4 in the afternoon according to her watch that her mother gave her before she left.
She sat down and reflected. The forest was so quiet, which was a characteristic she liked very much because her home in the city was always so noisy.
She liked being by herself, and the tall trees felt like protective brothers to her.
