Desired Self
Sunshine flooded in the room waking the victim like an icy bucket of water. Wiping the sleep from his eyes, he jumped out of bed and pulled the curtains shut. There was only one month left of summer vacation, and he still hadn’t accomplished any of the goals he had planned to complete. Even with just his boxers on he still felt a long streak of sweat running down his chest and fore-head. He wanted to dismiss the heat and return to bed but he couldn’t shut his mind and ignore the discomfort. His mom would come prancing in his room any moment telling him it was time to get up. As if such a thing existed. He crawled out of bed. The first place he went was the shower. The cold water was a relief to the humid air. After the shower he looked in the mirror at his scrawny body, the crunches he had done the night before did nothing to tone his unforgiving stomach. It made no difference. He wouldn’t have the courage to show off his muscles even if he did have the determination to achieve them.
