Across Time and Space, Part 3
“Exactly, we’ve got to go back and find her.” Bartleby said.
“Find her?” Jason asked. “You read the letter. She’s gone, there’s no way to get her back.”
“I don’t care.” Bartleby said. “She needs help, and i’m going to help her. You can leave if you’re afraid.”
“It’s not that I’m afraid.” Jason defended. “But you have no idea how expensive all of this is! The past three years, you’ve been in here fiddling with the Doc-” the look Bartleby shot him could have pierced steel. – I mean… working on this time travel project- i’ve been the one in charge of matinence and upkeep. Do you know how expensive a generator is? The electricity bill alone is more than my salary!”
“So?” Bartleby asked.
“So? We don’t have Brillstine. With out the Doc, we don’t have a grant. And with out a grant, we can’t pay the rent.”
The room was silent as Bartleby thought. “We don’t have the Doc.” He paused. “But, no one knows that we don’t have her.”
