Mary and Derek Part 2

They fell asleep that night in the car, well, Derek fell asleep. Mary stayed wide awake, feeling his breath against her neck. She couldn’t stop thinking. Every thought becoming more incoherent, less intense. Her eyelids closed but flinched open again when she was tapped on the shoulder. “Were we really here the whole night?” She turned toward him, not knowing if she was angry about the rude awakening. She smiled and nodded. He lied back down again, but she stayed sitting up. “Derek, if this relationship is going to go any further, I got to tell you something.” Puzzled, he leaned against the side car door with his arms behind his head. “Shoot” “I don’t know how to put this,” she began, playing with a ringlet of hair. “You know you can tell me anything…” Mary sighed and lowered her head so she wouldn’t have to look at him. “Back in Febuary, remember what happened?” He didn’t have to think hard. “You were absent from school for a while. Were you alright?” She grabbed his hand. “Let me explain”
