Florence's Story: Part Three
_Dear Headmistress,
Family is coming to visit on tomorrow and they would like to see Florence. Please send her to us. She does not need anything, she will not stay the night. We will have her back no more than an hour after the company leaves, so she should be back before curfew. Of course we miss her and want to see her again, too. We expect her right after breakfast. She can take public transportation, so please allow her some money for that._
Then Florence signed it as her aunt would and grinned.
Adding the ‘we miss her’ as an afterthought was just something her aunt would do, and she was proud of how she’d captured the evil old woman’s writing.
Now she brought the letter to the teacher, who read it and nodded.
“Very well, I’ll take this to Headmistress myself. You’d better get your school work made up,” she teacher said shortly.
And the next day, just after breakfast with a bit of money in her grey pocket, Florence was free.
