“Interesting” is the most vital comment you can receive.
Sorry to have to jump in with the vocabulary lesson, but you have to bear in mind that “interesting” is etymologically one step away from “fascinating.”
And “fascinating” is a technical term that means “Captain Kirk, this might destroy the Enterprise.”
Ergo, if somebody says your ficlet is “interesting,” I recommend that you step away from your computer and ask Scotty to boost auxillary power to shields.
A useless comment? Hardly.

lolz, I use interesting ALL the time, so I can’t join.
Howie’s comment adds to my lol-age at this ficlet. But, in and of itself, it is amusing.

I use it when I don’t really know what to say about a story, if it didn’t hold my interest long enough, if I wasn’t blown away by it, and/or if I want to say “Okay…” as in “awkward” but want to be nice about it.
Mostly, when I comment your ficlets using said word, it is because I am trying to decide if I should let it be, or sequel it. (Yes, sometimes it is because of the afore mentioned reasons.)

Yes, yes, thank you all for your informative comments, either for or against the word. Laine’s might be the most honest, and I respect that. Being nice about it is a good way to go. I am more against using it so the person doesn’t know what the heck the commenter means. Ratings do help.

on the word interesting…
well, the word in itself, is itself’s description. i’ve used the word but once, because it just, well, fit. otherwise, i add a lot more to it like, i critice it. henceforth, yes.

I think there’s a reason the Chinese characters for “interesting” and “chaotic” are so similar, hence the Chinese curse: “May you live in interesting times.”

I found this ficlet to be facsinating, provacative and stimulating, the comments as well were instructive and sensible.. I shall refrain from using the word that shall not be named, and gladly join.
I’m not sure a rating is required as it is not a story, but of more a statement.

Things once reserved for the comment section have found themselves in their own ficlet. should be a bylaw in AAAICOF about this. lol. No wonder some of you have over 100 ficlets!!!!!!
