Wednesday poured over the situation while lying in bed, waiting for the sleep that would not come. She bit her lip feverishly. Suppose Milton talks? What’ll become of me?
Wednesday showed up the next day, sullen and without an ounce of lipstick. “How d’you do, darling?” A voice said from behind. Wednesday whirled around to find Burt. There was an ominous look in his eye. A look that hadn’t been there before. “Oh, don’t look so surprised,” he admonished with a click of his tongue.
“B-Burt! I’ve been… worried.” Wednesday raised her chin. “I’ll have you know that I was coming to fire that horrid Milton.”
“Don’t play innocent with me, Wednesday, dearest. From now on, there is a “no holes barred” war.” Burt turned sharply on his heels.
